A call, then a written build plan: exactly what to buy, how it connects, what it costs, the order to do it in, and the three things people usually get wrong. Do it yourself over a weekend or hand it to your electrician.

The kind of thing people ask me

Real questions. Any of these, free, no strings.

"Is this worth buying?" — before you spend the money, not after
"Why does it keep dropping off wifi?" — usually not the device's fault
"Can I stop paying the monthly fee?" — often yes, and not always obviously
"Can these two things talk to each other?" — sometimes, with a translator
"Where do my camera recordings actually go?" — worth knowing
"What do I do with the stuff the last owner left?" — very common here
"Can it tell me the garage is open?" — yes, and it should
"What's the cheapest useful place to start?" — usually about $150

I run this in my own house first

Lights that know the time of day, locks and the garage on my phone, a thermostat that follows the schedule we actually keep, cameras recording to a box in my own house, the car's charge and the grocery list on a tablet by the door. I've had the 3 a.m. "why did the hallway just turn on" problem and fixed it — which, honestly, is most of what you'd be paying me for. Ask me to show you on the call. I will.

What I don't do

Short list, and it's the reason to believe the rest.

Monitored alarm service. That's a licensed, staffed business. If you want someone calling the police, buy that from an alarm company — I'll make it work alongside everything else.
Anything in your panel or behind drywall that needs a licensed electrician. I'll spec it exactly and work with yours.
Anything that dies when a company changes its mind. If a device only works through someone's cloud, I'll say so, and I'll usually talk you out of it.
Sell you more than you need. Lots of houses need three things, not thirty. If the answer is "you're fine," that's the answer you'll get.
